Need a holiday gift idea? Elk Grove selling own version of Monopoly
Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson has publicly said the village is not for sale.
But the mayor himself can be bought for $300.
That's if you are playing Elk Grove Village's version of Monopoly.
Elk GroveOpoly, as it is called, is currently being sold at village hall and the mayor's office for $20 to support the village Lioness Club's community efforts.
"We've sold about 400. We have 100 left," said Village Trustee Chris Prochno, a Lioness.
The village partnered with Pride Distributors of Farmington Hills, Mich., to create the custom board game.
Prochno and Johnson each have a square on the board, as do various community groups and businesses that contributed to the project.
