Thomas got health care column wrong

When I read a recent Cal Thomas column, besides my blood pressure rising, I had to refute his take on the health care reform issue.

The insurance companies have complete control over how we are treated, mostly to the advantage of their bottom lines. They stipulate what they will and will not cover, cause more than half the bankruptcies, cause doctors to have to spend much time figuring out what they can and cannot do, complete all the documenting of what they may charge, etc.

Thomas stated that it is the 60s age group and, of course, the liberal Democrats that want to have complete control of our lives, but many in my much older group sure don't like having the insurance companies control what they will and won't pay for and then pay at lesser rates to the doctors and hospitals.

One part of the column made sense when he stated: "Why would anyone trust government, which has a difficult enough time winning wars?"

That is another matter but has been true in the last eight years of deciding to fight where we had no reason and has killed and maimed so many of our young people that it is sinful. He certainly hasn't kept up to date on the breast and ovarian cancer issue that has been debated for a long time.

The parting shot by Thomas - "Welcome to the USSA, the United Socialist States of America" - is so trite and true of his ilk and shows that he is only interested in himself and what benefits him. I wonder if he has any faith at all and cares at all for those not as fortunate as he.
