No one hurt in early morning Palatine house fire
Three firefighters received minor injuries after a Palatine garage fire left a house uninhabitable early Tuesday.
Palatine fire officials responded to the fire at 720 N. Helgesen St. just before 5 a.m., finding heavy fire and smoke extending from the attached garage into the two-story house, officials said. All three occupants of the house were out when fire officials arrived, and firefighters got the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
The occupants of the house said they heard popping sounds, and when they went to investigate, they found the fire in the garage, officials said. Fire destroyed one car and a van, officials said.
A total of 35 firefighters were on the scene. Crews from the Palatine Rural Fire District, Lake Zurich Fire Department and Long Grove Fire Protection District assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
He added the fire remains under investigation.
Quentin Road was shut down for about 90 minutes while firefighters battled the blaze.
