Officials investigate Illinois train derailment

CARBONDALE -- Officials with Canadian National Railroad are investigating what caused a freight train derailment in southern Illinois.

No one was injured in the derailment on Sunday which shut down U.S. Route 51 near Carbondale. Traffic was back to normal Monday.

Emergency crews were on the scene for hours to repair damage on Sunday after several cars of the train derailed around 1:30 p.m.

Fire officials say one car which contained ethyl alcohol jumped the tracks, but no nothing spilled and there wasn't a public health risk.
