Who benefits from cap and trade?

President Eisenhower warned of the military industrial complex.

Now we have an environmental industrial complex where corporations are promoting cap and trade.

Locally, Exelon's CEO has written to the Senate encouraging adoption of cap and trade legislation. GE's CEO is also encouraging adoption of cap and trade. Other CEO's are following suit.

These corporations stand to benefit from this legislation. There is a conflict of interest between corporate and national interests that needs to be examined.

Corporations hire lobbyists to educate and influence lawmakers. Lobbying frequently helps legislators understand complex technical issues.

When corporations try to influence legislation so that they will earn money at the expense of taxpayers there should be public outcry.

Why isn't the media questioning the CEO's about how much their companies will earn as the result of cap and trade?

Today, they and other CEO's are supplicants for government largesse. They are lining up to feed at the public trough.

It's a far cry from when GE believed in free markets and free persons.

The media is supposed to be our watchdog that brings issues to light. Why aren't they?

It's clear that cap and trade will result in shortages and rationing together with the loss of jobs. A recent report given by me to the Geneva City Council demonstrates this with respect to electricity.

Jobs and living standards will suffer with cap and trade legislation. Why should corporations benefit from taxpayer dollars when taxpayers will suffer from unemployment and a lower standard of living?
