Big early deficit dooms Palatine

Palatine couldn't dig out of a 14-point first-quarter hole in a 48-38 nonconference boys basketball loss to Glenbrook South at the Titan Dome in Glenview.

"That was pretty much the game right there," Palatine coach Eric Millstone said of an 18-4 deficit. "They came out with some energy and we're ready to roll. It was a combination of us being a little bit flat and Glenbrook South being really ready to play."

Tommy Galvan scored a team-high 9 points for Palatine (4-4) and Nat Pearson added 8 points. Corey McMahon scored 17 points and hit five 3-pointers to lead Glenbrook South (2-6), which got its other win against Elk Grove.
