Wheeling man gets 5 years in stabbing

A Wheeling man was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm recently in Rolling Meadows Third Municipal District.

Bertin Bahena, 17, of the 1300 block of Alpine Court, was charged with stabbing a 25-year-old Wheeling man nine times in June on Wolf Road.

Authorities had charged Bahena with attempted first-degree murder, but dropped those charges in exchange for the plea.
