New, used toy sale:

The Batavia United Methodist Church Sunday school is hosting a toy sale for the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Saturday in the community building off the church parking lot on North Water Street. New and used toys will be available. Food will be collected for the pantry. Call (630) 879-7060.

String trio to play:

Musica del Amore will perform at 7 tonight at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St., Batavia. Free. The classical string ensemble features three St. Charles East High School musicians.

Marklund seeks donations:

Donations for Marklund's annual Giving Tree drive can be dropped off through today at two locations: Marklund Hyde Center, 1S450 Wyatt Drive, Geneva, or Marklund Philip Center for Children, 164 S. Prairie, Bloomingdale. Marklund is a nonprofit network of services for infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Photography at library:

The St. Charles library hosts an exhibit of unique photographic works by Daniel Teafoe. His subject matter is ranges from macro mode floral images to portraits of pop icons. There are 47 photos on display, including several original 3D/lenticular images. The exhibition runs through Dec. 31. Meet the artist at the library in the mezzanine gallery from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Teafoe has also shown his work at the Campbell House, Fermilab and the Norris Center, as well as in Chicago, Oregon and London. The library is at 1 S. Ornament sale in Batavia:

The Batavia Depot Museum is selling a colored brass ornament, the third in the historic church series. It features the Congregational Church of Batavia. Cost is $10. Buy it at the museum, 155 Houston St., and the Batavia Park District Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St.

Holiday at one-room school:

Pioneer Sholes School will have a Christmas open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The 1872 one-room schoolhouse will be decorated, and junior docents will perform songs, skits and poetry at 3:30 p.m. Children can make a craft to take home. People who attended the school before it closed in 1947 will visit. Pioneer Sholes is in the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, off Dean Street west of Randall Road in St. Charles. Call (630) 377-6424.
