Wednesday's Lake County roundup

Grayslake North's girls basketball team nearly pulled out a thriller in its Fox Valley Fox Division opener Wednesday night.

Playing at home against Johnsburg, the Knights fell in double overtime, 63-55.

Lauren Erickson piled up 19 points and 13 rebounds for Grayslake North (3-5), while Kinsey Siler had 14 points and 10 boards.

Johnsburg received 17 points apiece from Melissa Dixon and Danielle Slivka.

Carmel 40, Providence 33: Jackie Meier had 13 points and 3 steals for the host Corsairs, who rallied to win the East Suburban Catholic game.

Carmel (6-4, 1-2) also received 9 points from Erin Quinn and seven apiece from Juli Taylor and Beth Scudder.

The Corsairs trailed 18-7 at halftime but outscored Providence 19-9 in the third quarter and 14-6 in the fourth.

Cary-Grove 84, Antioch 56: Andi Potkonjak had 21 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor, for the Sequoits in the nonconference game.

Allie Anttila added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Antioch (2-7), and Lauren Tiffany posted 11 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.

Cary-Grove opened the game with a 14-0 run but Antioch clawed back. The Sequoits trailed only 19-16 after one quarter and pulled even at 23-23 in the second quarter. But the host Trojans led 39-30 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.

Libertyville 67, Dundee-Crown 16: Alex Haley scored a season-high 20 points for the host Wildcats, who led 21-4 after one quarter and 34-7 at halftime of the nonconference game.

Libertyville (6-3) received 8 points apiece from Savanna Trees, Nicole Kruckman and Leah Kruckman.

Grayslake Central 68, Prairie Ridge 34: The Rams stayed hot, as Alex Scarbro scored a game-high 15 points in the Fox Valley Fox Division game.

It was the sixth straight win for Grayslake Central (6-1, 2-0).

Kat Dickson contributed 9 points in the win, while Roxy Acoff, Rebekah Llorens and Skyler Jessop each added eight.
