Woman sentenced for threatening jail guards

QUINCY -- Authorities say an Adams County woman was dragged kicking and screaming from a courtroom in Quincy after being sentenced to seven years in prison for threatening a public official and aggravated battery.

Twenty-five-year-old Toni Hale was convicted by a jury in October. During her trial, Adams County Jail Officer Brian Doellman testified that Hale bit him in the arm and made threatening remarks. Two other jail officers testified that Hale said she would cut their throats.

At sentencing Monday, Judge Michael Roseberry gave Hale seven years for the aggravated battery charge and five for the other conviction, to be served at the same time.

At the end of the hearing, Hale uttered several obscenities and fell convulsing onto the ground. Bailiffs then removed her to the jail.
