Mandatory recycling a good idea for area

Recycling is a simple thing that everyone can do to help save the environment, yet many people do not bother separating their garbage to be recycled.

I believe that a mandatory recycling program for the Elgin area is an effective way for the community to help protect the environment, and possibly the economy.

Many businesses benefit by using recycled materials because they are more cost effective, which in turn, means a better price on products for the consumer.

Making new products from virgin material uses more energy, causes more air and water pollution than using recycled materials. Recycling also helps reduce the amount of waste that is dumped into landfills or incinerated.

The amount of damage caused by both of these methods could greatly be decreased by recycling. A mandatory recycling program is a great way for the community of Elgin to help improve the environment, and maybe, the economy.
