We're paralyzed by political correctness
Unfortunately, truth is being trumped by political correctness by our government and it is putting our nation at great risk. The facts regarding the disaster at Fort Hood are now indisputable. Major Nidal Malik Hasan's murder of 13 soldiers and wounding of 30 others was clearly a case of terrorism motivated by Islamic extremism. Screaming "Allah Akbar" (God is great) as he shot our unarmed troops, we now know that Hasan communicated with al-Qaida, ran a Web site justifying suicide bombings and planned this horrible action for days. Apparently, our government knew for months that Hasan had extremist views because he publicly said some pretty horrible things about "infidels" in front of our troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
But instead of dealing with the facts like adults and dealing with the reality of the situation to protect our troops, our government erred on the side of "political correctness" to avoid raising the uncomfortable reality of Islamic extremism.
Our government needs to act like adults and deal openly and honestly with terrorism and not hide its existence because it is afraid to offend people. Truth is truth and it must be dealt with in an open and mature way. Especially when it involves the safety of our nation!
