All signs point to bad government

I was never a proponent for term limits. However, my opinion has changed. It is obvious to me that people in government could care less about the hardworking taxpaying citizens of this country. Their only concern is re-election. Therefore, it is in their political best interest to make as many people dependent on the government for handouts so they can be re-elected year-in and year-out.

Every day, there is another governmental mandate affecting private citizens and their lives. The entrepreneurs of this nation are being inundated day in and day out with governmental mandates i.e. "Don't do this or you will be penalized." The government could care less as to whether an entrepreneur is successful or fails. Communities are also affected. As for example, the government has mandated standards regarding traffic signs. Traffic signs must now meet the federal mandated rules regarding size, color, shape and reflectivity. This regulatory mandate not only affects municipalities, states, but community associations. Community associations will have to replace every street sign, traffic sign, etc. that does not comply with federal requirements. This is a very expensive proposition for those communities. Is it needed? Absolutely not. These are not 65 mph areas. They are simply residential streets within a community association. I suggest that every member of a condominium, homeowner, co-op or townhouse association write your local representative and senator and let them know you do not want this legislation to be enforced against community associations. It will increase your costs and not make a difference in safety. To have reflectivity on street name signs will not save one life in a community association. This is how ridiculous the government has become. If someone drives negligently through one of these communities and injures anyone or damages property, that person is legally responsible for those damages. For someone to claim it was not their fault due to the street or stop sign not being reflective is absurd.

Enough is enough. It is about time for American citizens to stand up and tell their government to fix the infrastructure, defend the country against terrorism and get out of the face of the American people!
