Carpentersville

• Adrian D. Vargas, 17, of the 800 block of Salem Drive, Carpentersville, was charged Friday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, after police found 1.05 grams of cocaine in his vehicle, as well as a metal drug pipe used for smoking marijuana, reports state. Police said Vargas admitted he planned on selling the cocaine for $50. His bond was set at $10,000 and he is due in court Dec. 16.

McHenry County

• McHenry County Sheriff's deputies, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Thursday captured the person in the eighth position on the county's top 10 most wanted fugitives list. Arrested was Jerome K. Lindom, 50, of the 13600 block of Rockland Road, Lake Bluff. He has been on the run for more than three years since Illinois State Police arrested him in Spring Grove for domestic battery and DUI offenses in 2006. Both charges were subsequently upgraded to felonies, but he fled before he could be arrested on the new charges. The sheriff's department obtained warrants for his arrest in October 2007. He was arrested at his Lake Bluff address. His bond was set at $75,000 and his court date is pending.

Elgin

• A 52-inch LCD television, a 13-inch DVD/television combo, an unopened car stereo and a jewelry box containing two pairs of gold earrings, a gold ring engraved with "CSF" and a gold ring with a clear stone on it were stolen Wednesday from an apartment on Longwood Place, police said. Reports did not indicate how the suspect entered the unit.

•A woman left her purse unattended at a shoe store in the 0-100 block of Clock Tower Plaza Thursday, and someone took her wallet out of it when she wasn't looking. Police reports said someone used the victim's credit card to buy $147 worth of goods at a local store.
