2 arrested in Halloween party shooting deaths
ROCKFORD -- Rockford police say they have arrested two people in the shooting deaths of two men outside a Halloween party.
Deputy Rockford Police Chief Greg Lindmark said Friday that 21-year-old Andrew Richmond and a 15-year-old juvenile, who were both in custody on unrelated charges, were charged with murder after a monthlong investigation. They are being held on bond of $2 million apiece.
Police have an additional murder warrant for a 16-year-old Rockford juvenile.
Sixteen-year-old Deangelo Link 19-year-old and Nathan Melendez-Torrance were shot and killed on the street early on the morning of Nov. 1. An 18-year-old female and 18-year-old male also were shot, but suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
Lindmark said Link and Melendez-Torrance were part of a group standing outside a residence when as many as 30 shots were fired by multiple guns.
