Judson women finish third in NCCAA tourney
Huntley graduate Ashley Williams scored twice Saturday to lead the Judson University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Covenant College in the third-place match at the National Christian College Athletic Association's national tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.
The finish is the best in program history for Judson at a national tournament.
Williams scored goals in the 4th minute and the 65th minute to give Judson (14-7-3) a 2-0 lead. Covenant (9-10-1) scored later in the second half to cut the lead to one but Judson's ball control led the Eagles to the end of the match for the win.
Mackenzie Fowler had 7 saves and Judson had 6 shots overall with all of them on goal.
The 14 wins for Judson is the second best in program history behind the 15 wins in 2006.
