Evidence in family slayings turned over to defense
LINCOLN -- Logan County prosecutors have turned over more than 1,400 pages of documents to defense lawyers for two brothers accused of killing five members of a family from Beason.
Christopher J. Harris and Jason L. Harris were in court Thursday for pretrial hearings. The two are accused of killing Rick and Ruth Gee and three of their children in September. A fourth child suffered critical injuries, but survived.
Assistant Illinois Attorney General Michael Atterberry gave defense lawyers more than 1,000 pages of reports from the Illinois State Police, an additional 400 pages of grand jury testimony and seven DVDs containing evidence.
