Blackhawks' Campbell to appear at Arlington Hts. store

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell will be on hand to help celebrate the opening of a new Verizon Wireless store in Arlington Heights on Monday, Dec. 7. Campbell is to sign autographs from 5-6 p.m. at the new Verizon Communications Store at 375 E. Palatine Road.

Verizon touts that the store will showcase the latest innovations, including the DROID by Motorola and MiFi, which allows users to create their own mobile hot spots. The store will also accept donations of wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition for any service provider. Such donations support HopeLine, Verizon's domestic violence awareness initiative.

Phones are either refurbished and sold for reuse or disposed of in an environmentally sound way, with proceeds supporting shelters and other nonprofits that help domestic violence victims.
