Three men rob Associated Bank in Lindenhurst, punch teller
Lindenhurst Police are searching for three men who robbed the Associated Bank.
Police said the men wore masks when they walked into the bank at 1914 Grand Ave. about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Two offenders jumped over the service counter and one punched the teller in the face, the news release states. The robbers took cash from the teller drawers and the vault, then fled on foot, the release states.
The injured teller was treated at the scene by paramedics, officials said.
Officials did not have an accurate amount of money that was taken and are awaiting an audit of bank records.
Officials said the robbers are described as males, each of large build and last seen wearing hooded sweatshirt tops. Area police assisted in the immediate search, with the help of a K-9 unit. The FBI also responded and assisted in the search.
Officials said this is the third bank robbery in Lindenhurst since January, 2006. The last robbery was in June 2008.
