Online auction benefits Dist. 214 Community Education
The Community Education Foundation of District 214 is sponsoring its third Online Auction, which began Nov. 26 and will run through Dec. 6. This year's fundraising event will feature donated items and unique experiences that will be available through eBay Giving Works. Proceeds will benefit the many programs of Community Education.
Among the unique items and experiences that are up for bid are a Blues Brothers' Tour of Chicago, dinner at the Illinois Executive Mansion, Cubs spring training trip in Arizona, wine tasting junkets for 10, weekend getaways at different area hotels, a spa package, a Wii System, sports events tickets and many more. Minimum bids range from $10-$40.
"In these challenging economic times, our online auction really presents a terrific opportunity. It's a win-win because folks can name their price while supporting vital community-based programs and services," said Michael S. Field, director of Community Education.
District 214 Community Education, one of the nation's premier community education programs, serves over 50,000 participants every year. Programs that will benefit from the auction include English as a Second Language for adults, the Women's and Children's Center, Kids on Track, Family Literacy, Adult Basic Education and Cultural and Performing Arts.
"I encourage all the families and friends of District 214 to spread the word and support our auction," Field added. "Your efforts will go a long way in terms of our community members acquiring skills that will help them in these tough times."
