Suicide group to meet:

Attempters' of Suicide support group meets from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Stone Manor, 528 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. It is sponsored by Suicide Prevention Services. Call (630) 482-9696, or visit spsfv.org.

Santa Shuffle 5K:

The Santa Shuffle 5K Family Fun Run is at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva. It benefits the Geneva Academic Foundation. There is also a youth mile for children 12 and younger. Cost is $30 and $15 for the youth run. Register at geneva.revtrak.net/tek9.asp. Decorate your tree:

Scentimental Gardens in Geneva is hosting a workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to create a miniature fresh tree decorated with embellished glass ornaments and finishing with a flocking of fresh-looking snow. Bring your own container for the tree, all other supplies will be provided. Cost is $45 per person and RSVPs are required. Scentimental Gardens is at 428 W. State St. Call (630) 232-1303.

'Geneva Remembered' talk:

At noon Tuesday, Geneva History Center Archivist Ron Rawson will present "Geneva Remembered: Personal Recollections 1830s-1890s." This slide show and lecture will feature the first-person accounts of 12 men and women. You'll hear about a one-room schoolhouse, Geneva's first whiskey distillery, the early telephone exchange, a miserable missionary, and a rat-catching bulldog named Old Hi. It is part of the "Brown Bag Lunch Series." Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for GHC members and students. Coffee and cookies are provided. The center is at 113 S. Third St.

Symphony plans concert:

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra presents its holiday concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. The symphony will be joined by the Naperville Men's Glee Club. Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors and $11 for students. For details, call (630) 778-1003 or visit dupagesymphony.org.

Batavia school history:

The Batavia school Web site, bps101.net, has a new feature, the BPS101 Timecapsule. It features historical photos, documents, and other resources.
