Undercover teams find most places obey liquor laws
SPRINGFIELD -- Undercover teams visiting Illinois liquor stores, restaurants and bars last month found most refused to sell alcohol to underage customers. But 14 businesses were cited for violating liquor control laws.
The Illinois Liquor Control Commission conducted the checks during November in Cumberland, Clark, Franklin, Williamson, Piatt and Winnebago counties.
State and local authorities lead the compliance checks with help from high school and college student volunteers.
Among the businesses cited for violations were two in Benton, two in Monticello and four in Rockford.
Ninety percent of the stores and bars complied with state liquor laws and refused to serve minors during the November checks.
