Health care a vote for family values

For Melissa Bean and all the other representatives who voted for the Affordable Health Care for America Act: Ten years ago, my parents, middle class people who had worked hard all their lives and paid their insurance premiums every month, lost their health insurance due to an insurance loophole. My mother, who suffered from many health conditions, was promptly declared "uninsurable." In the time since, I've seen my parent's dignity erode year after year as they became paupers dependent on their children for support. Their journey from hardworking, college-educated middle class citizens to paupers struggling to regain their dignity is courtesy of the insurance industry. Until we as a nation decide that it is more important to take care of people than it is to make a buck off them in times of illness, the for-profit health care industry will keep bilking us of our moral and financial well being. Thank you, Rep. Melissa Bean and colleagues, for weighing in on the side of my parents and our future and for supporting real "family values."
