Ft. Hood was not a terrorist attack

Recently people of a certain political persuasion have been referring to the Ft. Hood attack as a terrorist attack. Additionally, they state that this is the first attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. They then go into how it has happened on President Obama's watch. My guess is to besmirch President Obama.

I'd like to suggest that these folks put aside their partisanship on this type of issue.

First of all, if you are going to start classifying every attack such as the one at Ft. Hood as a terrorist attack, I suggest that you look up what the idea of a terrorist attack is designed to accomplish. They are designed, like 9/11, to create an atmosphere of fear in the general population that future events will occur. That certainly is not what the Ft. Hood attack was all about.

Secondly, the first attacks on the U.S. since 9/11? I guess that you folks are conveniently forgetting the anthrax attacks of November 2001 and the D.C. sniper in October of 2002. These two incidents are much closer to the definition of a terrorist attack than the Ft. Hood incident. Both of those occurred before Obama was president and under the previous administration.
