Oak Brook fire confined to vacant home's garage

Fire broke out at a residence in Oak Brook Thursday morning but no one was injured.

Oak Brook firefighters were called to a home on Cambridge Drive in the Brook Forest subdivision at 6:04 a.m. for a report of fire in the attached garage.

The home had recently been sold to a developer and was vacant, according to Lt. Michael Pavlovic.

Firefighters had the fire out by 6:25 a.m. The fire was contained to the garage but smoke made its way throughout the house.

Some small items were being stored in the garage but there were no vehicles inside. The amount of damage is not yet available.

The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force and Oak Brook Police Department are investigating but Pavlovic said there was no immediate evidence of foul play.

The Oak Brook Fire Department was assisted by Westmont, York Center, Oakbrook Terrace, Elmhurst and Villa Park. Lombard, Hillside and Clarendon Hills provided station coverage.
