Electric Parade lights up Saturday

The St. Charles Holiday Homecoming Weekend begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27. The Lighting of the Lights will feature a special guest appearance by Santa Claus at 5 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Park, off Main and Fourth streets. On Saturday, a free holiday movie will be shown at 10 a.m. at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., followed by a free holiday concert at 2 p.m. Free horse-drawn sleigh rides will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. downtown. Enjoy Big Band music on Sunday

Les Pace and the Pacemakers will host a free afternoon dance from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Elgin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 1600 Weld Road. Big band era music is featured for listening, dancing or singing along. Refreshments and light food fare is available. (847) 742-3879.

Join Rock Against Hunger on Friday

On Friday, Nov. 27, join "Rock Against Hunger" at 7:30 p.m. at the Arcada Theater, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. Opening the show will be The Cavern Beat recreating the Beatles on the "Ed Sullivan Show," and Supernaut featuring Dave Uhrich performing songs from the 1970s to today. Join in work day at Bliss Woods

A habitat restoration work day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 28, at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve, 5S660 Bliss Road in Sugar Grove. Bring gloves and dress in layers. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments will be provided. Rules of the Road offered Dec. 2

Secretary of State Jesse White is offering a "Rules of the Road" review course in two Fox Valley locations on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The free course prepares applicants for the general written and road examinations. Visit cyberdriveillinois.com. It is offered to Batavia area residents from 1:30 to 3:30 a.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren. The course is offered to Elgin area residents from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.
