The folly of civilian trial for terrorists
I am not really sure why the current administration has decided to hold a civilian trial of those who carried out the attacks of 9/11 near the site where so many innocent civilians lost their lives. Political pandering, I guess, knows no limits of decency for this political group.
If it is to show the world how fair and balanced we have only now evolved under the light of the Obama administration, then America has truly stuck its head in the sand of less compassion for those who were directly affected in the tragedy. Gitmo certainly has its flaws. However, a sensational trial in New York City, which will cost Americans many more dollars that we don't have and last for years, will validate the spewing of hatred by those that perpetuated the deed. It will give them a world platform to drag all Americans through their venom. In Gitmo, they could be tried under military court without the rights of American citizens, which they are not.
Housing these people in prisons in Illinois is certainly not the quality job stimulus that was promised under the administration. Perhaps the president should be creating manufacturing jobs for citizens instead of manufacturing more and more debt, while pandering for a make-believe world in which America will stand for everything but also nothing.
Rewriting history is easy to do, but the effects of doing so can be catastrophic. Please don't make the victims of 9/11 and their families a political pawn. Manipulating their plight may be politically wise, but truly un-American.
