New addition for Juliette Low underway

Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 this week broke ground on a new addition at Juliette Low School in Arlington Heights that will include eight new classrooms, a storage area and restrooms.

The school board authorized the addition in June and awarded the design contract to Legat Architects.

In September, the school board authorized issuing $7.7 million in general obligation bonds to pay for the addition at Juliette Low School, as well as projects at Rupley School and Ridge Family Center for Learning, both in Elk Grove Village. District 59 also has applied for $1.2 million in federal stimulus funds to help pay for the improvements.

The Juliette Low addition is expected to be completed by the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.
