Don't have anywhere to go on Thanksgiving Day? Now you do

Not up to cooking a fancy Thanksgiving dinner? Family too far away for a holiday get-together? Well, you always have the option of enjoying turkey and all the trimmings at a local restaurant.

Many restaurants close for Thanksgiving, but a few offer up feasts with everything from potatoes to pumpkin pie. Best of all: You won't have to do the dishes.

Following is a sampling of local restaurant options. All events are Thursday, Nov. 26.

• Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg is hosting a family-style Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 7 p.m. The menu includes traditional Thanksgiving favorites, along with some of Shaw's specialties. Each family will go home with "leftovers" of turkey, potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans and pecan pie. Prices are $16.99 to $39.99, exclusive of tax, gratuity and beverages. • The Grotto Oak Brook is offering a Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The menu includes salads, carving stations with prime rib and ham, turkey with stuffing, pepper steak, garlic mashed potatoes and a kids' station with fun food for youngsters. • Patrons can dig into a three-course Thanksgiving meal from 12:30 to 7 p.m. at Carlucci Restaurant at 1801 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove. Fare includes a variety of soups, salad, turkey with traditional sides, filet mignon, grilled salmon with eggplant and lobster-filled ravioli. Top off the meal with desserts of vanilla custard with caramelized sugar, pumpkin pie or tiramisu espresso. Youngsters can order from a special children's menu. The cost is $13.95 to $28.95. • The Garlands of Barrington is offering patrons Thanksgiving favorites such as roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and other side dishes and sweets. Open seating is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Winslow Dining Room. Cost is $12.95-$26.95 per person. Tax and gratuity are not included. • The Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale will offer a wide variety of Thanskgiving favorites, along with unique specialties, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Try some slow-roasted turkey with cornbread stuffing and mashed potatoes, as well as parmesan-crusted tilapia, chicken cardinal with cured ham and peppers and buffalo mozzarella cheese. Other treats include salads, pastas and desserts. Little ones can dig into macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, curly fries or mini hot dogs. The cost is $15.95-$33.95. • Tramonto's Steak and Seafood in Wheeling is offering three seating times for its Thanksgiving meal: 2 to 4 p.m., 4 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Fare includes butternut squash soup with maple whipped mascarpone, salads, turkey, braised beef short ribs, sage stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and desserts. • Meson Sabika in Naperville is hosting its annual charity Thanksgiving dinner for people with special needs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those facing economic problems, or those with physical disabilities or other special needs, are invited to feast on a three-course Thanksgiving dinner.
