Outlook As she begins her second season directing the Pirates, former Elgin standout forward Leslie Schock has a much more experienced team than a year ago. The Pirates graduated only two seniors. "We will look to returning point guard Heather Zimmerman to take a big leadership role on and off the court along with Katie Nawrot, Jenny Solberg and Kelli Burke," said Schock, who also played for Northwestern University. "We will look to play a very up-tempo game. We have what I call interchangeable parts - a lot of guards who can all contribute and we will look to rotate many players for significant minutes." Schock expects Pappas to be a great addition, helping Heather Zimmerman at the point. Lauren Radtke is expected to get a lot of minutes in the post while the coach believes Wiedemann is one of the best ball defenders in the MSL. Outside threats are Mnichowicz and Solberg. "Katie Nawrot has incredibly strong moves to the basket - given her size (only 5-8)." Schock said. "Alexis Bauer is back as our leading scorer from last year and Katie Scovic has only gotten stronger (Pirates' second-leading rebounder last year)."
