Outlook As Fendley begins her 12th season directing the Hersey program, she welcomes back four starters including all-area guard Rogowski. Korff will probably miss the first three weeks due to state swimming commitments. Swan is coming off a volleyball all-area season as the Huskies' middle hitter. "Maddie and Kathryn bring a lot of experience and play together well in the post," Fendley said. " Kathryn will probably be back in basketball shape by Christmas." Rogowski, a fine golfer for Hersey this fall. led the Huskies last winter with 18.1 ppg and 74 steals. She also was second on the team in rebounding with 151 and connected for a single-season school record 74 3-pointers. "Megan is just so talented all -around," said Fendley, a former standout three-sport athlete at Rolling Meadows and the dean of MSL East coaches. "Megan can score. We assume teams will gear their defense toward stopping her and she has enough in her repertoire that hopefully she'll find ways for our team to score, whether it is her doing it or assisting it." Fredian moves to the point guard spot. "It will be a really easy transition for Julia," Fendley added. "She had a great role model in Kelly Rogowski (graduated and now at Loras College) the last few years when she was a No. 2." Fendley has a lot of players fighting for floor time. "Every girl has something to add to our team so I think when called upon, they can all fit into some role," she said. "If they continue to play unselfishly like they have in practice, on any given day, it could be someone else stepping up." Fendley believes the conference will be very competitive. "Wins will be hard to come by in the East but I like to think we can compete with anyone, especially once swimming season is over and we get Kathryn back," she said. "I think we'll be pretty deep at the guard and post positions."
