Coach Dave Yates sees depth, shooting and speed as the key assets to this year's team which hopes to contend for the top spot in the West. "I am very excited by the commitment level this group has shown since the end of last season," Yates said. "Their improvements have made our practices very competitive. This is the deepest team I have coached." The Vikings will face a much tougher nonconference schedule than in recent seasons. "Aside from the always tough Dundee-Crown Christmas tournament, we will also participate in the Maine West Sweet 16 Tournament." In that tourney, Fremd will face Lake Zurich, Maine South, and Fenwick. The Vikes will also travel to Loyola Academy this season for a nonconference match.
