Scouting Montini Broncos

Montini Broncos

Coach Brian Opoka.

Last year 2-23, 2-12, eighth in Suburban Catholic Conference; lost 53-52 to Austin in opening round of Class 3A Glenbard South regional.

Top players Kevin Dailey, sr., F/G; Tyshawn Johnson, so., G; Tim Perlowski, jr., G.

Scouting report The Broncos are liable to be very young depending on the talent coming over from a long football playoff run. Success will depend partially on, as Opoka said, "how quickly can you make the jump" to varsity speed. Only a sophomore, Johnson started Montini's playoff game last year and will be the main offensive force. In four varsity games last season Johnson averaged 3.3 points. Dailey, who averaged 3 points and 1.6 rebounds while playing in all 25 games, will provide leadership following the graduation of top scorer and defensive stalwart Anthony Blashewski. Former guard Dave Kelly will focus on baseball. Opoka's goal is to compete and perfect the motion offense with an energetic group. "We're just a scrappy young group trying to get better each day," he said.
