Outlook The Corsairs are going inside and they'll get there whatever way they can. "We like to grade our shots in practice and it's not necessarily about whether you make the shot it's about what was a good shot," Carmel coach John Ryan said. "And usually, the inside shots are always the best shots. We want to take a lot of inside shots, but that doesn't mean we have to get it in the post all the time. You can get inside shots in transition or when you attack the basket. Those are going to be the shots we'll be looking for most this season. We're going to try to get inside first." Carmel brings back two players who have shown an ability to score from the "inside." Jonathan Huisel is more of a true post player. He scored about 12 points per game last year to go along with about 8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Pat Cox can play the perimeter but can also find his way inside by slashing to the basket. Huisel and Cox will get some interior help from Dan Feld and Mike Fitzgibbons-For balance, the Corsairs do boast some dangerous outside shooters in Doug Meyer Connor Garvey, Dan Mooney and Connor Sexson. Meanwhile, Tim Hendricks, John Busse and AJ Gawin will all have a hand in running the show at point guard. "At practice, we're scoring pretty well, a lot better (than last year)," Ryan said. "I think we'll make some progress this year, but we're trying to change a lot at Carmel. They haven't had a winning season here in 20 years. Right now, our next step is to get double-digit wins."
