Bag the big, elevate the every day

Good for you, Kent Schielke. Your letter of Oct. 31 "Less news, please, on mega mansions" is right on. All that the applause, and, "Oh how wonderfuls" of the mega homes does is breed discontentment and overspending. Now that the Joneses may be in foreclosure, keeping up with them is the last thing we should be doing.

Please, let's have much more of, "How to champion smaller spaces and what we can affordably do with the average and realistic homes that we all live in." Please give us articles that help us beatify our homes and also take into account wise spending. That is where the real genius and creativity come into play. When you have millions to spend, decorating is a no-brainer: You simply pick up the phone and hire someone.

Not so with the other 95 percent of the population, aka, your readership. We must figure it out on our own. So, tips for us that we can actually employ in our own homes are far more useful, and therefore, interesting to read about.

So let's see more of those smaller homes pictures and ideas. Let's bag the big and elevate the every day. The building supply stores, hardware stores, and tradesmen don't stay in business because of the mega-mansions, but rather because of all of the homeowners in your regular, run-of-the-mill, neighborhoods who keep our economy humming.
