West Dundee Lotto winner still out there

Someone is $250,000 richer but apparently unaware of the riches awaiting from second prize in the Nov. 10 Illinois Lottery Mega Millions drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at the Speedway station at 115 N. 8th St., West Dundee.

"Someone got five of the six winning numbers in last Tuesday's Mega Millions, but they have not come forward yet," said Kevin Seyller, the store manager.

Illinois Lottery communications manager Tracy Owens confirmed the second-place ticket. The winning numbers from the Nov. 10 game were 08, 21, 29, 34, 37 and the Mega Millions ball was 35.

Owens could not say when the ticket was purchased but said the ticket holder was likely an occasional player, as opposed to a registered player whose information is on file with the lottery. The winner has one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prize, Owens said.

"Ironically, we have a lot of people who wait until the last minute to come forward," Owens said. "Then there are some people who do not claim large sums."

The Speedway will benefit from the payout, earning 1 percent of the winnings, or $2,500.

West Dundee vendors have proven lucky for at least three players in the past four years. The Route 31 Pantry and Liquor Store at 531 S. 8th Street sold winning $1 million scratch-and-win tickets in 2006 and again in June of this year.
