Holiday rock

Want to get into the holiday mood? The Brian Setzer Orchestra brings its seventh annual Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza to the suburbs this weekend. Setzer, the former frontman of 1980s heroes the Stray Cats, combines rockabilly, punk and vintage pop in this group's high-octane stage show.

Langford on stage

Jon Langford, driving force behind such stellar bands as the Mekons and the Waco Brothers, always delivers scorching live sets. This weekend he appears as leader of Skull Orchard, a solo project that has blossomed into a full-blown band. Also performing will be the Yellowhammers, a Chicago roots-rock band whose latest album was produced by Langford.
