Cops: South Elgin man threatened, robbed acquaintance

A South Elgin man is accused of pulling a hunting knife on a woman he knows, beating her up and robbing her.

Jordan Christensen, 21, of the 1700 block of River Road, was charged Monday with robbery, aggravated domestic battery - both felonies - and domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Police said it between 3 and 6 a.m. Monday at Christensen's home he waved a knife at the 17-year-old and threatened to slit her throat.

He also grabbed the woman by the hair and threw her over a table, reports said.

When she left the house and was about to get to her car, Christansen demanded her purse and choked her to the point of unconsciousness, said Sgt. Mike Doty.

Police believe Christensen took the purse from her while she was out cold - the bag contained $140, her i-Pod, a digital camera and other miscellaneous items.

Police caught up with her a few hours later at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where she was being treated for her injuries.

Police arrested Christensen at his house a short time later, Doty said.

Christensen was unable to post 10 percent of the $25,000 bond set for him Tuesday morning and was taken to the Kane County lockup to await his next court date. He is due to appear Dec. 2 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Christensen could spend between three and seven years in prison if found guilty of one of the felony charges.
