Winfield golfer wins $1 million prize

Picture this: Kevin Streelman of Winfield taking home a $1 million check for winning the inaugural Kodak Challenge.

It's reality now after Streelman, who entered the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., with a 2-stroke lead in the Challenge, sealed the $1 million deal on Friday with a birdie on the 485-yard par 4 at Disney's Magnolia Course.

"It's just been a huge blessing to be a part of and I feel very fortunate to have held on to win at the end," said Streelman, who finished the Children's Classic tied for 47th.

"It definitely got pretty nerve-wracking the last couple of events, but I just stayed strong and hopefully I can build on this and use it on the 71st and 72nd holes of Tour events when I have the lead the next year or two."

In the Kodak Challenge, players had to come through on 30 designated holes throughout the 2009 season. To be eligible to win the $1 million prize, they had to have played at least 18 of those 30 holes.

"It's been a fun process, and I think really kind of an out-of-the-box different idea that's just been really great marketing on Kodak's part," Streelman said.
