It was another great year for the Palatine market

As the cold wind blew through the Palatine Farmers Market last Saturday, folks were kept warm by the fond farewells of vendors to shoppers after a fruitful season for all.

Our Market Master, Marg Duer, has created a lasting legacy for all of Palatine to enjoy, year after year, the best Farmers Market in our area. All season long we purchased fresh produce and other goodies and were grateful week after week for the variety and quality that our farmers market offers.

I am particularly grateful for the opportunity the market gives not-for-profit agencies to share their stories. Katrina Care sold Red Bean and Rice Kits in many markets this summer, but the Palatine Farmers Market was by far our most successful venue.

Thank you, Palatine, for your incredibly generous support. The donations from Palatine served 1,000 meals to hungry folks in New Orleans who are still displaced from Hurricane Katrina.

We wore our crab hats proudly as we shared the Katrina recovery story, and we thank all of you who stopped by to listen and purchase red beans and rice. See you next summer!
