The law is the law until you change it

Well, I see here another letter using the "cheap labor" argument to justify ignoring the problem of illegal aliens. Hey, if cheap labor is the objective, let's just bring back slavery. Of course, since the illegal immigrants cannot complain to the labor board about being paid less than minimum wage or to OSHA about unsafe working conditions, we're already halfway there anyway.

Then there is the other argument that the immigration laws are unfair, even though millions of immigrants have followed them for the last two centuries or so. I don't like the high price of gas. So, using the "cheap labor" and "unfair law" arguments, it should be OK for me to fill up my tank and just drive off without paying, right?

If you think the law is unfair you don't just ignore it, you work to change it. But until you get it changed, you follow the law, unfair or not.

Which reminds me, for all of you out there whining about the red light cameras, I've got a simple solution for you -

stop for the red lights!
