Song cited has a different meaning
Reading Mr. Tom Girardi's letter to editor about 1960s song "America Where Are You Now" - Daily Herald, Oct. 29 - I would like to clear up some facts.
The song he is referring to is called "Monster" written by John Kay of the group Steppenwolf. He makes it sound like the song is about people standing together for freedom.
The song is about people that just stood by and let the monster that is the government do what it wanted, like taking away all our freedoms like the Bush administration started, and when it was time to wake up it was too late to do any thing about it.
The monster has our heads in a noose and it just sits there watching. If Mr. Girardi has a problem with the way the government is trying to deal with our health care, I would say he should write to his congressman and complain.
If enough people would do this and go to the polls and vote then we would not create another monster like we had the past eight years.
