Man cited in Bartlett pileup
An Algonquin man has been cited in an early-morning crash in Bartlett Tuesday that sent him and three others to the hospital but apparently caused no serious accidents.
Bartlett police said Hector Ortega, 31, of the 800 block of East Algonquin Road in Algonquin, was driving southbound on Route 59 near West Bartlett Road at about 5:45 a.m. when his car struck a 2006 Mazda while he was changing lanes.
The impact sent both cars into the northbound lanes, where they struck three other vehicles. Four of the drivers, including Ortega, were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and listed in good condition.
Ortega was cited for improper lane usage. Police don't suspect the crash was caused by a distraction inside the vehicle or by alcohol or drug impairment.
