Minds behind 'ATHF' at Lakeshore Theater
Dave Willis and Dana Snyder, two of the minds -- and voices -- behind "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming, put on a live performance at 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, at Chicago's Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway. Willis plays Meatwad, Ignignokt and Carl in the animated series, while Snyder is best known as Master Shake. If you don't know who those characters are, best not to even ask. Tickets are $15, available by calling (773) 472-3492 or visiting lakeshoretheater.com.
Art and talking heads
Artists Ann and Maria Ponce turn the tables on the more famous TV news reporters in their family with an exhibit opening Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Packer-Schopf Gallery, 942 W. Lake St., Chicago. On TV/Off TV is described as "two intertwined yet distinct solo shows" examining the issue of identity with TV news anchors and reporters. Thursday's opening is a fundraiser for the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, with tickets $20. RSVP by calling (312) 369-8600 or emailing infonatas@aol.com.
On the 'Road'
Talk about so bad it's good: There's nothing like the visual adrenaline rush of George Miller's original "Mad Max" and the more polished and even more unrelenting sequel, "The Road Warrior." AMC runs both and throws in the lame third film in the Mel Gibson series, "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," in a triple feature starting at 7 p.m. Friday.
