Algonquin woman gets jail, probation on drug conspiracy charges

A 24-year-old Algonquin woman was sentenced Tuesday to six months in the McHenry County jail and two years probation after pleading guilty to allegations she, her brother and her boyfriend conspired to sell crack cocaine in and around her father's home.

Erin L. Carriveau, of the 10000 block of Wilmette Avenue, also must pay $1,000 in fines and court costs and undergo six random drug tests as part of a plea deal in which she admitted to two felony counts of criminal drug conspiracy.

The charges stem from separate incidents in July and August in which, authorities said, she arranged meetings to sell $50 rocks of crack cocaine to a man who, unknown to her, was a police informant.

The plea deal does not require Carriveau to testify against her boyfriend, Derrick J. Thomas, but she was required to make a sworn statement in court detailing his involvement in one of the drug transactions for which she was convicted.

Thomas, 23, who lists himself as homeless in court documents, is scheduled to go on trial Monday on seven felony drug charges, as well as residential arson and trespassing allegations, involving the Carriveaus.

Paul M. Carriveau, 21, of the 10000 block of Wilmette Avenue, pleaded guilty in August to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 150 days in jail, 30 months probation and fines and court costs of $3,995.
