Objections filed in Congressional, state races

Several Kane County residents running for Congress, the state House and the state Senate face objections to their candidacies in the Feb. 2 primary election, according to the State Board of Elections.

• Oswego resident John Reeves has objected to the petitions of Bob McQuillan of Geneva. McQuillan is running for the Republican nomination in the state 50th House district. The seat is presently held by Republican Kay Hatcher of Yorkville.

• Steve Rauschenberger's petitions for the Republican primary for the 22nd District state Senate seat are being challenged by Frederick Hossfeld of Streamwood. Rauschenberger lives in Elgin.

• The petitions of James Pistorius of Batavia, seeking the Democratic nomination for the 14th Congressional District, are being challenged by Matthew Snodgrass of Wheaton.

At the Kane County Clerk's office, challenges were filed to the petitions of two Aurora precinct committeemen.

An objection was filed against Jason Leonberger, who is running for Ward 2, Precinct 5 Democratic committeeman, and against Tracey Fews, who is running for Ward 7, Precinct 7 Democratic committeeman. Nobody else filed to run in those two races.

In other election news, District 11 Kane County Board member Robert McConnaughay of Geneva has withdrawn from the Republican primary, leaving Mike Donahue of Geneva as the sole contestant. McConnaughay had previously indicated he would step down if a "qualified" person sought the nomination. He has served since 1990.
