Big budget dance coming to Elgin
In describing Elgin's 2010 draw budget, some city leaders like to use the term "balcony view."
It alludes to an overview or view from afar on the $270 million spending plan that is 6 percent less than was spent this year.
In coming weeks - starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 - city council members are going to get an up close view of their spending priorities from now through 2014.
These are the "dance floor deliberations," according to City Manager Sean Stegall.
So, who will get their toes stepped on?
Who will go out on a limb and not have other council members share his views? Does that qualify as going stag?
Which council members will find new dance partners?
Is there a song that sums up the city's budget dance?
Stay tuned for answers.
