Maine West marks 50 years

Des Plaines Maine West High School will celebrate "50 Years of Warrior Pride" this weekend.

The school officially opened at 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines, in 1959.

A Decades Dance will be hosted at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Spectator Gym. School alumni are invited to come dressed as they did in high school.

Visitors can check out the "Memory Lane" room, a classroom full of yearbooks and memories of the past 50 years.

A rededication celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium. A keynote speaker will offer an entertaining look at Maine West's changes and accomplishments over the past 50 years.

There will be an open house following from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees can take a self-guided tour of the building.
