DuPage lands new shipment of injectable H1N1 vaccine

The DuPage County Health Department announced Wednesday afternoon a new shipment of injectable H1N1 vaccines had arrived.

Health department officials did not know offhand how many new injectable vaccine doses were received, but appointments for individuals in the "priority population" are now being taken for the shots by calling (866) 311-1123. The department is also taking appointments for the mist vaccine, but that can't be taken by pregnant women or individuals with diseases that weaken organs.

The priority population includes pregnant women, people who live with or provide care for infants younger than six months, health care and emergency medical service personnel, residents six months to 24 years in age, adults 25 to 64 with certain chronic medical conditions or weakened immunity.

Demand for the vaccines has been high since the department began offering shots and sprays late last month. The department has three clinics in the county where residents can get vaccinated. For more information on clinic locations and schedules visit protectdupage.org.
