Notre Dame WR Floyd cleared to play against Navy

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame star receiver Michael Floyd will play against Navy on Saturday, six weeks after breaking his left collarbone.

Coach Charlie Weis said Tuesday that the 6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore was cleared to play Monday for the No. 19 Fighting Irish. Floyd was second in the nation in receiving yards at 160 yards a game when he was hurt when he landed on his shoulder trying to make a catch against Michigan State.

Weis also said that backup quarterback Dayne Crist is gone for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Saturday against Washington State. Crist is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday and is expected to be out four to six months.
